Engaging Video Banners

Have you ever wondered how our roads are striped?

Last week I shot a video web banner for the company Central Striping Service. It was a really interesting experience because prior to it, I really hadn’t given much thought to how our roads are striped. It was very cool to see Central Striping’s crews hard at work and the big trucks and equipment they use to stripe the roads.

It was fast-paced work because once the trucks got rolling, they weren’t going to wait for me to catch up. So I relied on the speed of my drone. Then for all the RED footage, I had to figure out where they were going to be, drive pretty far ahead of them, get my gear out of the car and ready, and then get set for 1, maybe 2, shots before the truck passed me by. That or I could run alongside the truck… (not so great for getting smooth footage haha).

It was a fun day that was a little different than the shooting method I am used to with staging people and saying — OK, you’ll walk from here to here and then say this or smile or whatever. It was more like — these guys are really busy and aren’t going to stop for you, so get out there and do your best. It made me a little nervous truth be told, but I said OK let’s do this. Jackson, their company rep, who I coordinated the shoot with, exemplified the mood of the day by saying “Rock N’ Roll” as we got started.

I was happy with the end product and the client was too. Their goal was to create a really high quality look for their new website and immediately grab the attention of site visitors. They also wanted to highlight an aspect of their culture — a group of people who like working hard and getting the job done. The client also wanted to show the sense of brotherhood and camaraderie between the crew.

Did you get a sense of that watching the video? Reach out to let me know what you think or start a conversation with me.
