How To Create Unique Visuals In Videos

What is the most unique story of your business and how can you show that visually?

Back in 2020 before the pandemic began I had the opportunity to travel to various smart home integration companies in Florida and Arizona and produce this video about the state of the industry as its business leaders saw it.

It was a very exciting experience as a cinematographer because so much of the smart home business is centered around lighting. For example, one of the theaters we shot interviews in had LED light panels on the walls that I could configure to be any color. We shot three interviews in one space and gave each business owner their own unique lighting “flair.”

When it came to the edit I wanted the sense of movement and speed to be accelerated to accentuate the rapid pace of technological development in the industry. Much of the B-Roll was shot slowly on a dolly with the express purpose of being able to turn that into ultra-smooth, rapid clips in post-production.

Also, the orientation of an image might not begin the way you expect it to, but corrects itself by the end of the clip to dramatize how tech advancements can initially be discombobulating until we begin to understand them.

The video was screened at a convention in a room full of hundreds of engaged business owners.

In my experience, videos function most successfully when you create unique visuals that work organically in synchronicity with your unique story.
